Fire Me, Please!

By Brandon Martin

I received this story yesterday via an email from The Leadership Institute:

“Cheboygan, Michigan – Twenty-four year old Dennis Lennox, Leadership Institute training graduate, defeated a two-term incumbent last November by campaigning to abolish the same position for which he was running – County Drain Commissioner.

Mr. Lennox is using his elected position as Cheboygan County Drain Commissioner to reduce wasteful government spending by eliminating the same position he was elected to fill. Currently, a proposal is being drafted for introduction in the Michigan Legislature that would abolish the position of county drain commissioner in Cheboygan County upon signature of the state’s governor Jennifer Granholm.

At a time when conservatives need young people to “pull up a seat at the table”, as he puts it, Dennis is doing just that. He recently announced plans to run for the Michigan State House of Representatives and is encouraging other young conservative student activists to get active and move from campus politics to state and local politics. “
