OFA and the Office of the President Don’t Mix
ByWe visit a number of conservative and libertarian websites that regularly post some outrageous remarks or take controversial positions. We do subscribe to such sites and we thoroughly and unabashedly enjoy them!
However, there’s something different about Organize for America attacking opponents of Obama on their website as “domestic terrorists.” Organize for America is Obama’s campaign organization rebooted. The domain name of the website is “barackobama.com” Its logo and branding are identical to the President’s logo and branding. A quick visit to the home page shows Obama’s sanctioned name and likeness over and over, again.
For that reason, we’d like to think that Obama would condemn these statements from OFA and consider completely distancing himself from the organization. It just isn’t presidential for a president to allow an organization associated with his name and largely believed to be under his control to start calling millions of Americans “terrorists.” If Obama is going to try to be an effective president in the American tradition, he’s going to have to embrace the dignity of the office and leave his roots as a community organizer behind.
Note: OFA often removes controversial comments from their website as if they were never made. Three cheers to Raz Shafer for taking the screenshot found via the link below before it was removed from the OFA site:
