Another Level of Irony in Obama's Tea Party Put-Down

By Brandon Martin

It’s being widely reported that Obama took a swipe at the tea party movement, yesterday. According to Politico, while speaking to a Town Hall Forum, the President remarked:

“Those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I’m not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around, Obama said, ‘let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security.’

‘But,’ Obama continued, ‘let’s not play games and pretend that the reason [for the deficit] is because of the Recovery Act.’”

We dissent. I’ve never heard anyone at a tea party claim that the sole reason for the federal budget deficit was Obama’s stimulus bill. But, everyone from a tea party protester to a President should agree that the massive spending bill makes the budget situation substantially worse.

Gateway Pundit has now posted photos revealing another level of irony in the President’s comments that was not covered by the mainstream media. Although, Obama said he was happy to have a serious conversation about runaway spending, he didn’t appear willing to step outside his fake town hall meeting and have a conversation with any of the hundreds of serious people who had gathered to protest his spending. Yes, there was a real tea party outside Obama’s faux Town Hall event while he was making his remarks.
