Anti-ObamaCare Resource #2: FreeMarketCure.com
ByFreeMarketCure.com is a veteran of the movement to resist further government meddling in the health insurance markets and health care sector. The site is well-designed and the tag line is catchy: “The Choice is Yours… Don’t Let it Become Theirs.” While the content isn’t updated hyperactively, the site features videos, reprinted op-ed pieces, and semi-regular blog postings that over a period of years has become a substantial treasure trove for those who oppose more top-down bureaucratic control over health care.
We discovered the site through FreeMarketCure.com blogger David Catron’s fascinating article for the American Spectator on the differences between the plan Obama proposed during his campaign and the one he is attempting to strongarm through Congress.
The article was interesting and useful because it provides persuasive clash with one of the main political contentions of those who support the Democrat’s health care reform proposals: There is a mandate for health care reform as evidenced by voters “overwhelming” support for Barack Obama at the ballot box. Now, just to be clear, we aren’t at all sure what motivated people to vote for Barack Obama, but we suspect there may have been many, many factors more prominent than the drive to give government more control over medicine. But, the article points out that even if voters elected Barack Obama because they desperately wanted the health care reform plan he was pitching during the election, there is no popular mandate for this plan because the ObamaCare that the President is attempting to strongarm through Congress is significantly different from the health care plan he pitched during the election.
