The "Dumb Laws" Database

By Brandon Martin

Andrew Roth and the Club for Growth have created a blog wherein each entry highlights a particular “dumb law.” The blog posts are tagged by the state that enacted the law and a drop down menu is provided so that site visitors can sort the laws by state. Furthermore, Andrew has provided an email address for visitors to suggest entries and provide documentary evidence of crazy, foolish, or downright insane attempts to regulate. This submission feature makes the site more interactive and fun, but also maintains an editorial concern with accuracy. That’s important because most site visitors will have trouble believing that many of the laws they read about in Andrew’s collection of “dumb laws” could possibly be real legislative efforts.
