DailyReckoning.com: We Wish These Guys Weren't Right So Often…
ByDaily Reckoning is the name of a blog/newsletter published by Agora Financial featuring bearish market and macroeconomic commentators Bill Bonner and Addison Wiggins.
Bill Bonner and Addison Wiggins wrote the compelling book, Empire of Debt a few years ago and we’ve been following the uncannily prescient gloom and doom ever since on Daily Reckoning.
Bonner and Wiggins frequently sound like our readers on Daily Uprising in that they are concerned about excessive government spending and the negative effects federal government policies will have on future economies. They began urging investors to buy gold in the early years of this century with the prediction that the failure to do anything about growing entitlement programs and the exploding national debt, along with other factors, would make gold a serious winner by 2010. Likewise, when just about everyone around us was jubilant about long-term real estate a few years ago, Daily Reckoning was warning that there was a bubble and that ultimately that bubble would burst just about the time it did.
We don’t really read the Daily Reckoning for financial or investment advice. (We suppose we’d be considerably wealthier if we did.) Nevertheless, we do read it for the sheer joy of contrarian thinking and armchair economics from people who understand and successfully make decisions based on the principle that bad government and bad behaviour ultimately lead to bad consequences.
