Jihad Watch
ByBy the time this article is posted, I should be in Paris.
One of the biggest issues in European politics revolves around immigration policy and the question of how to handle the large number of Muslim immigrants who have entered or are entering western Europe. Some political figures have suggested that many in this relatively recent wave of immigration are not integrating into European society or participating in the common culture because they hold dangerous loyalties and anti-Western sentiments. Others insist that this is racism of the worst kind.
In the United States, this is a debate that happens on a much smaller scale, usually around dining room tables in private homes and rarely in Congress.
Nevertheless, the stakes in the debate are high and no website seems to understand that better than Robert Spencer and Hugh Fitzgerald’s JihadWatch.com. Jihad Watch constantly reports on instances of radical Islamic fundamentalism with a violent streak as well as sympathizers in this country who ignore what Spencer and Fitzgerald insist is a philosophical incompatibility with peaceful coexistence with the West.
The website is in no way a neutral participant in any debate about radical islamic fundamentalism. We certainly recommend that you follow the blog and read it for a while before you pass a link on to any friends. We’re guessing you’ll react either by questioning the motivation behind the site’s passionate devotion to its subject or, more likely, wondering why so many of the headlines and reports you’ll find on Jihad Watch aren’t being given more attention in the United States’ mainstream media.
