On the Ropes: What William F. Buckley Jr. Can Teach Today's Conservatives

Bill Buckley, Jr. was one of the greatest of all conservative pundits. He was at the center of the early American conservative movement as a strategist, author, editor, television show host, and much more. We look at today’s passive celebrity talking heads and we remember that Bill Buckley fought communism not just on television, but also as a CIA agent. There are few today who have live so ferociously and with as much a vigor as Bill Buckley. His passing left a deeply-felt absence.

That’s why the following title of what might have been a routine D.C. policy discussion caught our eyes when we read about it last month:

“On the Ropes: What William F. Buckley Jr. Can Teach Today’s Conservatives”

We found the discussion, which included some of the most prominent minds at both the National Review Institute and the American Enterprise Institute, fascinating. In particular, we thought Chris DeMuth’s remarks were insightful.
