Templeton Essays: A Symposium on Liberty
ByLast year, some of the brightest minds in conservative thought wrote a series of essays on the future of liberty for the American Spectator. The essay series, called the Templeton Essays, shuns practical talk of politlcal parties, electioneering, and the political horserace in favor of the way the classic documents, first principles, and forces of history will impact freedom in the not-so-distant future. The reading is probably not good beach-fare, but it is stimulating and, we believe, much more relevant today than when the essays were published.
The essayists and essay titles include:
- The Limits of Liberty, Roger Scruton, December 1, 2008
- Freedom and the Nation-State, Jeremy Rabkin, November 1, 2008
- Freedom and the City, Brian C. Anderson, October 1, 2008
- Academic Freedom and the Liberal Arts, Robert P. George, September 1, 2008
- Feminism and Freedom, Christina Hoff Sommers, July 1, 2008
- Individual Liberty and the Constitution, Robert H. Bork, June 1, 2008
- Sin No More, Rémi Brague, May 1, 2008
- The Fate of Individual Liberty in Post-Communist Europe, Anne Applebaum, April 1, 2008
- Freedom and Property, Paul Johnson, March 1, 2008
