The Pig Book: An Annual Update on Government Waste
ByEvery year the Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) publish a Congressional “Pig Book” Summary that profiles the most egregious examples of the practice of “earmarking.” This year the Pig Book has revealed 10,160 earmarks worth about $19.6 billion dollars. That’s a considerable sum considering in the presidential debates last fall both the Republican candidate and the Democratic candidate decried the practice of earmarking and vowed to reduce or eliminate it.
In high school debate, we had a paper copy of the Pig Book tucked away in our box just in case someone dared challenge our assertions about the outrageousness of earmarks. Today, you can get a full summary of the book’s findings online for free by clicking the thumbnail below.
This year’s Pig Book might be required reading for upcoming Tea Party participants.
It is interesting that some Tea Parties are scheduled for at or around the July 4 holiday. This year, July 4 coincides with the California budget hitting the critical list. After July 4, Sacramento will only have a few more days of funding with which to operate their entire sad state. And taxpayers will no doubt be asked by our President to pony up for these horrible decisions.
Hollywood of course is oblivious to the disaster. It is all just a grade B horror flick to them ( you can read a movie review of “California Screaming” starring Arnold the Governator at: http://firstconservative.com/blog/political-humor/political-humor-california-screaming-the-movie )
The Pig Book is something liberals are incapable of understanding because it includes raw facts and figures. Leftists deal in diatribes and platitides – much like our brethren in California who have driven their state to the edge of insolvency.
