The Story of Stuff… Rebutted
ByThere’s an educational film that’s required viewing for many public school children in America called “The Story of Stuff.” The Devil’s Advocate of YouTube fame did a series of videos revealing that the celebrated film is nothing short of environmentalist propaganda.
The following videos include much of the documentary with rebuttal commentary by the Devil’s Advocate prepared a couple of weeks ago.
The videos speak for themselves, but we’d like to point out that the problem of one man’s education being another man’s propaganda would be more of a theoretical quandary instead of a practical reality if schools would spend a little more time on time-tested tools of education and classic writings and a little less time on trendy new materials.
Great Work, Devil’s Advocate!

Fantastic rebuttal
Some good points… some terribly partisan points.
Yes, the Roman Empire poisoned themselves out too.
One of the wisest men I know said that you do not argue about what you know. You only argue about what you don't know. The only time you have an argument is when someone does not have complete information.
No one argues that water is wet, or that the sky is blue. They argue about things they BELIEVE, or that they FEEL to be true. This is because you can't *demonstrate* a belief, because it isn't based on fact. It's based on faith. So much of what the original video is based on is what the creators (the Tides Foundation) *believes* to be true, instead of what *is* true. That's why there's an argument about it. They, of course, say that those who disagree with them are wrong, but when you can research the truth, and demonstrate it as objective truth, their "feeling" and "belief" does not stand up against it.
They only have two options: to scream louder to drown you out, or to kill you.
All *fights* can be traced back to a fundamental breakdown in communications.
Demosthenes:I agree that much of the original video is based on what the creator's *believe* to be true as opposed to what is *certainly* true. However, I also think that some of the clash is the result of different value sets. The creators of the video value the natural environment more than human pleasure and the creation of new and better stuff that brings pleasure and happiness. Lee Dorian, the critic known as Devil's Advocate, values innovation, production, and liberty a little more than purity of the natural environment. Even if they agreed on the factual propositions, they'd probably reach different conclusions because they value different things. It should go without saying that values aren't facts, but I think they are often the cause of argument. You know you've made an effective comment when everyone starts trying on their philosophy hats. i like that quote! maybe if the video is explaining something that the Tides Foundation BELIEVES to be true, then it shouldn't be taught in schools – facts should be.

These kinds of propaganda films will continue as long as the NEA is involved. Go to their web site and you will see Marxism at it finest. The Tides foundation principal concern is really control,
"When an opponent declares, "I will not come over to your side," I calmly say, "Your child belongs to us already… What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community."
- Adolph Hitler
Thanks for the comment, Tony. I agree about the NEA. Very frustrating that the GOP didn't move to dismantle the NEA when they had control of both the House and the Senate as well as the White House.– B.Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

Untrue. They were one of the first banks to completely repay their TARP funds despite the fact that they had bought both Bear Sterns and WAMU. If anything, they lightened the burden by paying for those banks liabilities so you didn’t have to.
