The Crazy Eight: Republicans Who Voted For Waxman-Markey

By Brandon Martin

The House of Representatives approved the Waxman-Markey energy tax by a margin of 219-212. We’d like to point out that the Democrats did not have the votes to pass the legislation without the following eight Republicans who joined the majority for this monster tax:

  • Bono Mack (CA) 202-225-5330
  • Castle (DE) 202-225-4165
  • Kirk (IL) 202-225-4835
  • Lance (NJ) 202-225-5361
  • Lobiondo (NJ) 202-225-6572
  • McHugh (NY) 202-225-4611
  • Reichart (WA) 202-225-7761
  • Chris Smith (NJ) 202-225-3765

This is a huge slap at a popular conservative movement that campaigned fervently online and offline against this tax. We think that primary opponents should probably begin their campaigns to unseat these RiNOs today.

Thanks to Margaret Ciocco for being the first to forward to us the names and telephone numbers, above.

Brandon, I was almost in tears yesterday after the vote. I was overcome with embarrassment and outrage.

  2. Teresa says:

These (if I may call them this)representatives are sure to be toast in the next election. They do not work for the people of their states.

  3. Roger Johnson says:

Let it be known to all American people. That these people are no longer party of the Republican party in my eyes. I will be calling…

  4. Paragon says:

Kudos to the Republicans bold enough to set aside ideology and vote in favor of their constituents and their environment.

  5. Evelyn Blodgett says:

    Dear Paragon,
Please by all means, pay more taxes if you want to because I don’t. That’s what this bill is, more taxes on top of all the other taxes that we already pay. If you don’t get it now, you never will. Just keep on worshiping Obama. If people don’t wake up now and vote these morons out of office we will more than likely have another 4 years these free spending idiots. The country I grew up in is completely different from the country my children are now growing up in. Thanks to the Democrats and the so called Republicans that voted with them they are destroying this country while my nephew, a marine special forces is out there protecting your right and their rights for freedom of speech. So while Obama is raping the military like the Clintons and Carter did in the past, don’t forget to say “Thank you” to a person of the military, you ungrateful piece of you know what and to your fellow “liberal” Americans.

    I really liked your blog!

  7. Brandon Martin says:

Agreed, Don. It’s hard for the Republican whip to keep everyone in line when Pelosi and Obama can hand out better goodies. Furthermore, I think a few moderate Democrat representatives who would have feared media coverage in their district of their yea vote on a huge energy tax may have thought they had cover as a result of the Michael Jackson media blackout.

Thank you for doing your part in getting out the info in the middle of the MJ storm.

Teresa, I’m particularly disappointed in Mary Bono from California. California passed AB32, a law that essentially declared the debate over the existence of global warming over and made it state policy to remedy global warming, a few years ago. The result: Endless nonsense and uncertainty for developers and expensive regulation only a few experts dare to claim they understand. I don’t understand why she would vote for legislation assuming global warming is a fact and trying to remedy it at the federal level after what has happened in her own state over the last few years. Her husband was never as conservative as I would have liked, but she’s making him look ideal.
