Fight for Freedom Call with Sanford and Perry
By Brandon MartinRepublicans who are of the glass-half-full variety may want to forget dwelling on the popularity of the Democrat’s one big star, Barack Obama, to inventory the number of promising governors with an “R” next to their name. We can begin with Mark Sanford of South Carolina and Rick Perry of Texas. Both are effective governors and national party leaders. Either one could run a more sincere and far-more-compelling campaign in a challenge to President Obama in 2012 than we saw from John McCain in 2008.
They certainly are more promising national figures than Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi — both of whom would need both personality and charisma transplants to succeed as national candidates.
Sanford and Perry are hosting a huge national teleconference call on Thursday, May 14th at 8:30 PM EDT. You can listen to their efforts to rally the troops, decide for yourself if they cut it, and leave your own comments on the teleconference line by signing up here.
(If you aren’t interested in being hit with fund raising requests via email, we recommend that you sign-up with a new free alternate email account (e.g. gmail) and use that to fill-in the teleconference form’s request for your email account. I’d also consider sending the call to an alternate number such as a SkypeIn number and listening or participating to the call via your computer. It’s not that we don’t trust the Republican Governor’s Association, but setting up alternate emails and alternate telephone numbers through gmail, Skype or some other provider isn’t a bad routine practice if you want to avoid unsolicited email and telephone fund raising calls to your main contact points in the future. On the other hand, we haven’t received any complaints about participants in these conference calls being inundated with fund raising requests and the sign-up form promises only “one call.”)
