A Random Thought About Party Crashers
ByOne thing we appreciate about the tea parties is the opportunity for people with a conservative or libertarian bent to run into other like-minded adventurers and share a common comfortable understanding. This is particularly important for our compatriots who live in typically statist, liberal environments, where they are used to having to keep their thoughts to themselves or articulate them carefully, so as not offend the emotional and political baggage of liberal friends, neighbors, and colleagues. We want our tea party protesters to feel free to be themselves, laugh, and speak their minds.
That, more than anything, is the reason why we are disappointed to hear that Huffington Post and the Acorn folks are paying and urging big-government liberals to show-up and argue with tea parties or get tea partiers on tape saying controversial or awkward things and embarrassing themselves. We’re afraid it will ruin the experience for participants.
So, if you run into such a party-crasher, we hope you won’t let it bother you or your family. Don’t waste your time and energy arguing with people like that — they may very well be accepting money from an organization that is and has been investigated for undermining free elections on behalf of the far Left. Do you think you are going to persuade them? More importantly, we hope that you don’t let their obtuseness convince you that there is nothing that can be done to change the minds of ordinary people who have forgotten what it means to live in a free society. Dump your tea with a sense of camaraderie and hope and ignore the rumored party-crashers if they find you.
