Theatrical Simulcasts: A New National Organization Building Tool?

By Brandon Martin

Last night, Heather and I went to the local movie theater. During the trailers, we saw an advertisement for Glenn Beck’s Common Sense Comedy Tour, a live event simulcast to 440 movie theater screens throughout the country. The live screening happened on June 4th, but an encore is scheduled to hit theaters on Thursday, June 11th. If you’re interested you can check if your local theater will carry the encore here.

Common Sense Comedy Tour LogoThis isn’t the first time that Beck has used the local theater simulcast technology to promote a book release. We missed his Christmas simulcast last year, but have heard from others that it was well done.

At any rate, the sight of Beck dressed in colonial costume for the second half of his show interested us as a possible tea party movement organizational tool. The theater atmosphere makes it something of an event and the technology allows interaction and a kind of national party convention without the expense of physically getting everyone in one place.

This might be the subject of our next post, but in the process of admiring the “organizational” skills of the Left, we shouldn’t forget that our own team continues to innovate and impress in ways that are worth watching.

Great job to Glenn Beck and his marketing team!

If you can’t make it to the showing on the June 11th, you might want to read this review from the New York Times. It insinuates that Beck made racist comments, which probably means that (a) he didn’t actually make any racist comments and (b) he did, in fact, tell a funny joke or two.
