Bon Jovi Records "Stand By Me" In Support of a Free Iran
ByWe get a number of emails and tweets from folks who passionately support the youth rebellion in Iran. We’d also love to see a free Iran or even a freer Iran… and apparently, Jon Bon Jovi agrees with us.
Now, other than the fact that we both seem to think Richie Sambora is a great guitarist, we aren’t sure that we’ve ever agreed with Jon Bon Jovi before.
So, in honor of the rarity of that event and in hopes that more celebrity attention from Jon and others might help focus attention on the struggle for freedom in Iran, we thought we’d embed Jon Bon Jovi’s duet with Andy, an Iranian “superstar.” The song, which was terrific to begin with, now includes a verse or two in Farsi with Jon attempting to sing a few words in that language as well as new and very different arrangements. We like the sincerity of the original production and Ben E. King’s vocals, but we can still appreciate how people who haven’t opened a newspaper for years are responding positively to Jon’s efforts to draw attention to the struggle in Iran.
Hey Brandon,
Thanks for the video. That was noteworthy. From one of the oldest Bon Jovi fans around I thought that was great and so is Jon. As I recall someone still has a couple of CD’s.?
Happy Fourth of July G!
Sheila
Brandon,
